Meet Our 2020 Finalists: Solar Freeze

Solar Freeze is a portable, solar-powered cold storage unit to help farmers ensure their produce doesn’t spoil in the heat. They are 1 of our 12 Finalist Teams who will compete in the upcoming FoodTech Challenge Awards Ceremony. Read more about them below.

What makes your team excited about your idea and food technology?:

We are excited about the idea that we provide a solution using renewable energy coupled with IoT sensors for agriculture, which aims to possibly disrupt the present industry and provide an innovative and sustainable solution to global food security problems.

What is the biggest source of motivation for your team to work on this project?:

The biggest source of motivation for us has been to have the potential to make an impact and difference to lives and agricultural production levels of small-scale farmers.

Could you tell us something unique about your team that makes you a strong contender to be in the Top 4 winners?:

Our team offers a unique solution for enhancing the agricultural production values of small-scale farmers both for developing countries as well as developed markets like UAE.

Lastly, if you are selected as one of the four winners, how does your team plan to use the prize money?

We want to improve the quality and the quantity of our team and so we would utilise the prize money to train more young people on renewable energy for agriculture for expanding the scope of our business.
